Do You Want to Learn The Piano?
What is a Piano?
The piano is an acoustic keyboard instrument with black and white keys. They come in the traditional upright ( as in photo above ) and grand piano forms and also in digital form – as in the piano link as the start of this sentence.
How Do You Play The Piano?
You play this keyboard instrument by pressing the black and white keys with your finger pads to produce the sound you are wanting for any particular piece you are on.
In more detail, when a key is pressed down, a small hammer which the key is connected to, hits a string causing it to vibrate and make the sound that is tuned to a specific note.
What is a good age to begin?
Any age. If you have the desire, why not learn and play.
At Tuneful Solutions I teach from the age of 5 years and over.
Styles of Music you can learn?
People can learn the following three styles.
Style 1: The classical style:
This is where you learn to read play notes in the right hand and left hand.
Here is an arrangement of Yesterday for solo piano in classical style.
Style 2: The modern style:
This is where you play a right hand melody line against an improvised left hand bass line using chord symbols marked above or below the melody line, which are written on sheet music. This sheet music is often referred to as Lead Sheets.
The link shows a melody line plus a piano line – you can follow the melody line with the right hand and play an improvised left hand part using the chord symbols above.
Style 3: By Memory
If you know a song from listening to it a lot then you can reproduce this on the piano.
At Tuneful Solutions lessons are tailored to the individual. You may just want to learn one style or a mixture of styles.
How are you going to learn ?
You can teach yourself by purchasing a tutor book locally or online.
Check here for more specific books you can start learning piano with. There are different books recommended depending on what the age of the beginner is.
You can also find and piano teacher to help you.
Are you prepared to practise?
Just like anything in life, the more you do it the better you become and you reap the rewards of being able to play music you want to play.
Finale
Have you enjoyed learning about the piano?
Would you like to learn it?
If you would then you will need an instrument to play. If you haven’t got one then a cheaper option is to hire or purchase a keyboard or electronic piano. You can use the grand piano feature and learn and play it using the methods as mentioned above.
